The iCor is a leading entity in the care of patients with cardiovascular disease where innovation, research and teaching are a priority. The Institute encompasses the areas of Cardiology and Cardiac Surgery of the Germans Trias i Pujol University Hospital, and the ICREC (Heart Failure and Cardiac Regeneration) research group, located at the Germans Trias i Pujol Research Institute (IGTP).
Its mission is to provide excellent care to patients with cardiovascular pathology in the Northern Metropolitan region and its vision is to be a modern service, with highly specialized medicine, while providing integrative care to patients in the reference area.

- Achieve a competitive, open and dynamic organizational model, focused on the patient and accessible to the population.
- Coordinate and provide specialized care to cardiovascular patients in the assigned area both in the hospital setting and in primary care.
- To be a reference center for comprehensive care for patients with complex cardiovascular health problems (tertiary level).
- Carry out research projects in new cardiovascular diagnosis and treatment technologies.
- Obtain external resources to finance cardiovascular research, both in the clinical and basic research fields.
- Integrate healthcare activity with undergraduate and postgraduate teaching, and with clinical-epidemiological and basic research in cardiovascular matters.
