The Medical Team of the Cardiac Surgery Service of the Heart Institute (iCor) of the Germans Trias i Pujol University Hospital, led by Dr. Elisabet Berastegui, has successfully completed the first implant of the Avalus Ultra prosthesis achieved in Catalonia and the second in the entire Spanish State.

The Avalus Ultra prosthesis implant expands the offered range of biological bovine aortic prostheses for patients with aortic valvular pathology.

The durability of any prosthesis is the Achilles heel of any valve substitute. The treatments applied to the tissues extend the durability of the prostheses, however, with added markings with the PEEK – barium sulfate system, they allow for better visualization of the valve annulus, and be a good support for a valve in valve.
