Professor Antoni Bayés, Clinical Director of the Germans Trias Heart Institute (iCor), has presented the European Union (EU) Cardiovascular Plan to the European Parliament, as a member of the European Commission’s Public Health Expert Group (PHEG).
Cardiovascular diseases are the leading cause of death in the EU, with 1.7 million deaths each year, and this is one of the reasons why the Commission is developing an EU cardiovascular health plan to address this public health challenge. How to improve cardiovascular health in the EU and promote initiatives focused on heart failure are the main actions to be developed.
The PHEG is the main forum for discussion with EU Member States on how to address this public health challenge and the PHEG subgroup on the prevention of non-communicable diseases discussed cardiovascular health.
For iCor Germans Trias it is an honor to be represented by Professor Antoni Bayés at the most important European institution.
