The Heart Failure (HF) Unit at the Germans Trias i Pujol University Hospital is the service that treats patients with Heart Failure (HF). HF is a pathological situation that occurs when the heart is unable, for different reasons, to expel the blood that reaches it in each cardiac cycle to the extent that it should.
This Unit was created in 2001 in response to the high rate of people affected by HF and the difficulty that many patients have in living with this disease and treating it appropriately.
The main objective of the Heart Failure Unit is to inform and train patients with HF and their families, in order to improve their quality of life and offer the most appropriate and personalized treatment possible.
The Unit’s team is made up of cardiologists and graduate nursing staff specialized in cardiology and, in addition, has professionals from other clinical and administrative specialties, to be able to meet the needs of patients in the best possible way.
We work as a team with the aim of:
Improve the quality of life of patients with HF.
Reduce the number of admissions and visits to the Emergency Department.
Improve the treatment received by patients.
Develop a program for education, monitoring and treatment of patients with HF.
Increase compliance with prescribed treatment.
Reduce the average hospitalization of hospital admissions.
Participate in multicenter research studies and carry out your own studies.
In 2011, the Unit’s 10th anniversary was celebrated with the publication of the book, “Heart Failure Unit, 10 years of history” in conjunction with a scientific conference.
The Unit publishes manuscripts in scientific journals in the specialty, presents communications at conferences recognized with several awards.
