Among the subunits integrated into the Cardiology Service is the Hospitalization Unit, with the capacity to treat the entire spectrum of cardiac pathology with patient-centered care and an availability of between 30-35 beds that can be expanded depending on needs.
The expert multidisciplinary team manages the Unit in close collaboration with a specialized nursing team and the possibility of electrocardiographic monitoring with 20 channels and ultrasound for daily care.
In addition, it has access to all currently available imaging diagnostic techniques, and the entire therapeutic spectrum of cardiac pathology, except heart transplantation, including a wide representation of percutaneous structural techniques as well as a wide range of surgical techniques.
It stands out especially in the field of ischemic heart disease and heart failure, and has been a reference in this field since 2001, linked to the start of the Heart Failure Unit (UIC), a pioneer at a national level.
In addition, there is the opportunity to collaborate in the development of local, national and international research projects, both at the preclinical and healthcare levels, and with the other iCor Units.
Regarding teaching, the involvement of the Cardiac Hospitalization Unit is present at different stages: university level in the Medicine and Nursing Degree, during the MIR specialization, as well as at the postgraduate stage.
