FAQ

I have arrived at the main floor of the hospital. What should I do?

If you have a scheduled visit, you must approach the machines located both in the lobby of the main entrance to the hospital and in the outpatient consultation halls (floor 1).

You will need to pass your health card through the reader so that it can read the barcode and you will need to “admit the visit.” At this point, the clinic where you will be visiting will appear on your screen, along with the name of the doctor or nurse who will be attending you and the consultation room.

Once the card is swiped, you will have to wait your turn in the waiting room and the doctor or nurse will make an appointment for you for the visit.

The next visit will be communicated via an SMS message to the registered mobile phone or via a letter that will arrive at your mailbox at your postal address.

If you do not know any details about a specific procedure or have any questions, you can contact the patient and/or user service by going to the information desk of the different Units of the Cardiology and Cardiac Surgery Services:

  • 1st floor: Heart Failure Unit (ICU), Cardiac Surgery, Outpatient Consultations, Complementary Tests, Cardiovascular Imaging Unit

  • 2nd floor: Interventional Cardiology and Hemodynamics Unit, Electrophysiology and Arrhythmias Unit and Acute Cardiac Care Unit (UCO and UPAC)

  • 11th floor: Hospitalization

Cardiac Surgery ICU (2nd floor). Visits from Monday to Sunday: 8:30am-9:30am and 3:30pm-4:30pm (visit of 2 family members, alternating).

Acute Post-Critical Heart Unit (2nd floor). Visits from Monday to Sunday: 1:00 p.m.-3:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m. (visit of 2 family members per patient).

Heart Critical Care Unit (2nd floor). Visits from Monday to Sunday: 1:00 p.m.-2:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m. (visits by 2 family members per patient).

Hospitalization (11th floor) : Visits from Monday to Sunday: 1:00 p.m.-9:00 p.m. (visit of 1 family member per patient in the room, can alternate with other family members in the waiting room on the floor).

EXCEPTIONS:

– Patients admitted with a scheduled intervention: the companion can come 1 hour before the surgical intervention (at 7am for morning heart surgery).

– Special permits granted by the service supervisor or on-call supervisor: need for a third person, clinical severity or end of life (the latter can also be granted by the responsible or on-call doctor)

The information hours for relatives/companions who wish to receive information about the medical process of admitted patients will be held in person on MONDAYS, WEDNESDAYS AND FRIDAYS :

  • Dr. Manel Maymi: from 12:30 p.m. to 1 p.m.

  • Dr. Ángel Caballero: from 1pm to 1.30pm .

  • Dr. Meritxell Soler: from 1:30 p.m. to 2 p.m.

  • Dr. Abel Torrelles: from 2pm to 2.30pm .

In the event of restrictions on visits due to an outbreak of the COVID pandemic, etc., the Cardiology area will follow the recommendation of the Hospital Management and, therefore, schedules and in-person visits may be affected. If it is not possible to provide information in person, this will be done by telephone.

Discharges will be given before 12:00 a.m. In certain cases, they can also be given after that time when the medical team deems it appropriate.
