Germans Trias i Pujol University Hospital in research
The iCor has the facilities and services of the Hospital to carry out research work. The Germans Trias Hospital is a public center that provides high complexity health care to the 800,000 people living in the North of Barcelona and the Maresme, as well as to some citizens of other Catalan territories in certain pathologies, in which the hospital is a reference for up to 1,200,000 inhabitants. The hospital is managed by the Northern Metropolitan Territorial Management of the Institut Català de la Salut (ICS), which is also responsible for the primary care of Barcelonés Norte, Maresme, Vallés Oriental and Vallés Occidental. Other institutions work there, such as public companies and foundations that provide services and research in the fields of oncology, diagnosis for the image, HIV and blood and its derivatives: Institut Català d'Oncologia (ICO), Institut de Diagnòstic per the Imatge (IDI), Banc de Sang i Teixits (BST), Center for Epidemiological Studies on Sexual Transmission and AIDS in Catalonia (CEEISCAT), Institut de Recerca de la Sida IrsiCaixa (IrsiCaixa), Fundació Lluita contra la Sida (FLS) and the Institut Josep Carreras d'investigació contra la leucèmia (IJC).
Clinical Research Ethics Committee (CEIC)
The vocation of the CEIC of the HUGTP is to help the research process be transparent and public with the aim of contributing to the improvement of research quality. Its fundamental mission is to ensure the proper conduct of research on human beings, from a methodological, ethical and legal point of view, as well as to ensure the protection of research subjects, in a way that respects the principles of justice, beneficence and autonomy of these. The Ethics Committee of the Clinical Investigation of the Germans Trias i Pujol Hospital was accredited for the first time on December 13, 1993 by the Department of Health of the Generalitat de Catalunya. Currently he keeps his accreditation, renewed on February 21, 2018, to act as the Committee of Ethics of research with medicines (CEIm). Its activity is developed on the basis of standardized work procedures that are public and available for consultation at the Technical Secretariat.
